Background:
Launched by the KnowledgeWorks Foundation in collaboration with the Institute for the Future, the 2020 Forecast is an effort to examine key forces that will shape the landscape of education over the next decade. The project is based on a belief that the education system of the future needs to — and will — be radically different than it is today, involving a greater reliance on nontraditional educational institutions and new roles for educators, among other factors.

Outstanding Web Features:
Visitors to the 2020 Forecast Web site can read about topics and trends in education, including Educitizens and Transliteracy. Topics can be selected from a list of the most popular items or browsed via a list of submitted questions, such as "Is public education on its death bed?" Registered visitors can create a profile to save information, post comments, subscribe to topics via RSS or email, add tags, or upload resources. The site also contains information on how to take action as well as a frequently updated blog and searchable resource library.
