ArtsEdge

ArtsEdge

Mission:
To build a new base of knowledge in the area of arts education while connecting people to people and resources.

Background:
ArtsEdge, an online resource for artists, teachers, and students, is a program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and a partner of Thinkfinity, a consortium of national education organizations, state education agencies, and the Verizon Foundation. One of the first hundred dot-org sites on the Internet, ArtsEdge provides professional development resources, student materials, and guidelines for arts-based instruction and assessment as well as interdisciplinary curricula — arts education integrated with other academic subjects — designed to empower educators to teach in, through, and about the arts.

Outstanding Web Features:
The site features media-rich activities such as KC Connections, Arts Days, and Arts Quotes. Visitors also can explore a podcast directory and download the programs into iTunes. In addition, the site provides a variety of tools for teaching arts education in K-12 classrooms, including Lessons, Standards, and How-Tos.
