Bolder Advocacy
Mission:
To advance and protect the role of nonprofits in influencing public policy.
Background:
The Alliance for Justice— a national association of more than one hundred organizations committed to progressive values and the creation of an equitable, just, and free society — created Bolder Advocacy with the goal of empowering organizations of all sizes to advocate effectively on behalf of their constituents and causes. In sharing resources and training, the Web site equips nonprofits and foundations with the tools they need to understand the laws and regulationsthat govern organizations engaging in advocacy.
Outstanding Web Features:
The Bolder Advocacy homepage points users to resources based on their level of expertise. After answering a few simple questions, first-time users are directed to a search results page with relevant resources, while more experienced users can search the site's content through a separate portal, gaining access to information they need with a few clicks. The site also features "effective advocacy tools,"including toolkits, an advocacy capacity tool, and resources for evaluating one's community organizing efforts; a Focus on Foundationssection that connects foundation staff to new site content related to the role they play in advocacy, from funding it, to raising awareness of issues by commissioning reports, to encouraging specific policy outcomes; a glossaryof related terms; a blog; and more about the services provided by AFJ, including workshops and events. Visitors to the site also can submit an advocacy-related questionto AFJ's team of expert coaches.
