City Forward

City Forward

Mission:
To enable users to view and interact with city data while engaging in an ongoing public dialogue.

Background:
Developed by IBM in 2010, City Forward is an interactive online platform that invites visitors to the site to learn more about the issues affecting cities around the world, including transportation, energy, health, education, and the environment. The site's exploration tools enable users to find patterns in city data, illustrate trends, and identify new areas for further investigation. The data featured on the site are collected from various sources, including federal and state agencies.

Outstanding Web Features:
Registered visitors can investigate aggregated data sets; combine data sources and visualizations to create explorations that bring aspects of the data into focus for further analysis; save and organize explorations for future use in the My City Forward section; publish and share explorations with other users; view, comment on, and rate other explorations; and collaborate and discuss ideas and discoveries in the City Forward Community. Visitors to the site can also follow or weigh in on community discussions and learn more through the City Forward blog.
