Community Technology Foundation of California

Mission:
To enable individuals and organizations to post charity drives or find local centers where they can make donations.

Background:
CharityDrives.org connects donors of food, goods, or clothing with charities supporting local communities, youth, churches, health, and other causes. The idea behind the service arose after Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast region, and Chris Seta found no vehicle where people could learn about charity drives in their vicinity or list their drives with confidence they would be noticed. His concept-development firm, the Aedeas Group, adopted the project and formed a team of partners who donated time, talent, equipment, and software to develop and market the service, and made it available for free.

Outstanding Web Features:
Accessible by computer or cell phone, the Web site contains a charity drive finder, searchable by city, state, and driving radius; free registration for listing drives; and online forums that focus on topics such as how to organize a charity drive or which items are suitable for donation.
