EconomicDiversity.org
Mission: To provide a publicly available source of campus-level data on student income, race, ethnicity, and loan usage that can be compared over time and across institutions.
Background:
EconomicDiversity.org, a project of the Institute for College Access and Success (TICAS), was launched in March 2006 with funding from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and additional support from the Pew Charitable Trusts, the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation, the Open Society Institute, and the Stern Family Fund. Geared for researchers and the public, the site offers data from the academic years 2000-01 and 2003-04 that visitors can use to identify trends in student enrollment, review financial aid policies, and evaluate the success of various schools at enrolling and graduating students. The site can also help identify areas where more and/or better data collection is needed.
Outstanding Web Features:
With profiles of three thousand accredited U.S. colleges and universities, EconomicDiversity.org enables visitors to compare institutions based on any of 128 different factors. Using the institution database and the comparison tool, visitors to the site can select and compare institutions and variables at the state, regional, or national level, with the resulting files automatically presented in table form and exportable to Excel or your printer. The site also supplies information on data collection and, via the homepage, links to other sites with related higher education data.
