Mission: To help people find great nonprofits, help nonprofits make their impact more visible to their communities, and provide useful feedback to nonprofit organizations.

Background: Perla Ni, former publisher of the Stanford Social Innovation Review, was inspired to create GreatNonprofits after having difficulty finding organizations that were actually helping victims of Hurricane Katrina. In the spirit of consumer review sites such as Amazon.com and Yelp.com, GreatNonprofits is designed to enable people with firsthand knowledge of a nonprofit's work to share that knowledge with others.

Outstanding Web Features: Visitors to the GreatNonprofits site can search for organizations by keyword; read organizational reviews written by clients, volunteers, and other stakeholders; contribute reviews of their own; or create a profile for a nonprofit not listed on the site. Organizations with a profile can also post their needs (e.g., donations, volunteers), while visitors can sign up to receive biweekly tips on volunteering, giving, and innovation in the sector and read/download the interactive GreatGuide to Giving and Volunteering.
