GreatSchools

GreatSchools

Mission:
To empower and inspire parents to participate in their children's education.

Background:
GreatSchools works to improve K-12 education by getting parents more involved. Founded in 1998, the organization provides parents with information and tools to help them choose the best school for their children, support their children's education, and improve schools in their communities.

Outstanding Web Features:
Visitors to the GreatSchools Web site, which won the 2007 Webby Award for Best Family and Parenting site, can search for great schools by both ZIP code and school district. Each county listed in the GreatSchools database has a profile page that includes demographics, information about what it's like to live in the community, and a list of schools in the area. Parents are encouraged to connect with each other, join in discussions, seek expert advice, and learn more through articles and school choice tips.
