Hatch
Mission:
To enable social impact organizations to leverage the power of digital storytelling to increase their reach, resources, and impact.
Background:
Launched in December 2014 with support from the Rockefeller Foundation, Hatch provides an online suite of tools designed to help foundations, nonprofit organizations, and social enterprises "tell stories with purpose."
Outstanding Web Features:
The Hatch "toolkit" is organized into five sections: strategy, capacity, content, platform, and evaluation. A section at a time, users are walked through the process of creating a narrative framework, starting with the beneficiaries of the organization's efforts, its long-term objectives, the problem to be addressed, the solution(s) to the problem, and a call to action (strategy); the organization's story-telling team, sources, skills, and technologies (capacity); the components of the story, narrative arc, and format (content); selection of a social media platform (platform); and performance indicators and digital metrics for measuring impact (evaluation). At the end of each section, Hatch recommends relevant case studies and resources based on the user's answers. Visitors to the site also can do a keyword search or browse resources by goals (i.e., fundraising, awareness raising, donor cultivation) or topics (e.g., audio editing, blogging, graphic design, and infographics).
