Mission:
HealthCareCoach.com, a project of the National Health Law Program, is an educational Web site designed to help consumers better understand the healthcare system.

Background:
The National Health Law Program, a nonprofit legal organization that has worked for more than thirty years to improve access to quality health care, educate consumers about their legal rights, and provide policy advocacy, established HealthCareCoach.com and produced its content. The Web site was designed by Fusion Media and Forum One Communications with strategic development assistance from Alternate Routes. Support for the project was provided by the Pew Charitable Trusts, the Open Society Institute, the Jewish Healthcare Foundation, the Commonwealth Fund, the California HealthCare Foundation, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Outstanding Feature:
The site organizes its informative articles into several categories: Families and Health, Managing Changes, Lowering Costs, and Women's Health. Topics range from ensuring health coverage for newborns and adopted children to affording mental health care. In addition to health-related information, the Insurance area of the site offers consumers comprehensive information on Getting Health Insurance, Health Insurance Basics, Using Your Insurance, and Protecting Your Coverage.
