International Folk Art Alliance

International Folk Art Alliance

Mission:
To celebrate and preserve living folk art traditions and create economic opportunities for and with folk artists around the globe.

Background:
Launched in 2006, the International Folk Art Alliance envisions a world that values the humanity of the handmade, honors timeless cultural traditions, and embraces the vision of dignified livelihoods for folk artists. IFAA's programs include the International Folk Art Market in Santa Fe and Dallas; Mentor to Market, which provides business and marketing workshops, hands-on skill building, and long-term support to folk artists, with the goal of improving their livelihoods and boosting their access to the global marketplace; and online training on topics such as pricing, catalog development, and customer relations.

Outstanding Web Features:
Visitors to the site can browse stories of impact and profiles of artists participating in IFAA's flagship Folk Art Market in Santa Fe; get updates about individual artists on the organization's blog; purchase works of art from the International Folk Art Market Online; and/or make a donation in support of IFAA's capacity-building programs. Donors also can sign up to sponsor an artist's attendance at the Folk Art Market or participate in Passport to Folk Art trips that give donors an opportunity to meet master folk artists in their home countries. In addition, artists can download applications for the Folk Art Market or apply for financial assistance.
