Issue Lab: Racial Equity

Issue Lab: Racial Equity

Mission: To raise awareness about its funding efforts and activities in the social sector aimed at realizing racial equity.

Background: Issue Lab is a Candid service that helps organizations create and share collections of published works. It features a knowledge center, offers a legacy collection service, has a comprehensive distribution network, and provides a topical special collections section. Issue Lab’s Racial Equity special collection includes works that explore the larger diversity, equity, and inclusion framework of racial equity, which can be defined as “the condition that would be achieved if one’s race identity no longer influenced how one fares” (from “Awake to Woke to Work: Building a Race Equity Culture” by Equity in the Center). Issue Lab’s racial equity focus—as part of a research collection that also includes topics like race and policing and gun violence—is integral to Candid’s issue-driven, interdisciplinary deep-dive approach into current events and topics related to civil society. Candid’s focus on racial equity is based on the belief that achieving racial equity in the United States and around the world will require nonprofits and foundations to step up like never before.

Outstanding Web Features: Visitors to Issue Lab's newly relaunched site can search the racial equity collection of articles, reports, toolkits, statistics, and other published works by keyword or by using filters to drill down by author, publisher, funded by, issue area, document type, geography, or publication date. They also can select an option to display their research through relevancy, alphabetical order, the oldest, or the most recent. In addition, the full view of materials can be changed per the viewer's preference. A downloadable bibliography is available, as well as options for sharing the collection on their own sites or suggesting a report to be included in the collection.
