NetDay Student Voices Resource Center
Mission:
To give students a voice in decision-making regarding the use of technology in their schools and communities.
Background:
Launched in March 2005, the Student Voices Resource Center (SVRC) grew out of information collected by NetDay, a national education technology nonprofit dedicated to the effective use of technology in learning environments, through its Speak Up Day surveys. SVRC provides a place on the Web where students can come together to share their views about technology, and serves as a bridge between students, their parents, and educators, allowing them to translate their ideas into action.
Outstanding Web Features:
The SVRC Web site supplies step-by-step guides for students interested in technology decision-making at their schools; a directory of the best technology-related online resources, including news articles, youth-led research, grant opportunities, and information from organizations that support youth engagement; and a calendar of online chats with students and key individuals from the education and technology arenas. Coming additions to the site will include information for parents and educators on how to support students in their school engagement efforts, along with success stories featuring students who are making a difference at their schools.
