Philanthropy's Promise
Mission:
To celebrate funders that target their grant dollars to the needs of underserved communities and empower those populations by funding advocacy, organizing, and civic engagement.
Background:
A project of the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy, Philanthropy's Promise was launched in June to encourage leading U.S. foundations to devote a majority of their grant dollars to underserved populations, including low-income families, racial or ethnic minorities, women and girls, people with disabilities, the elderly, immigrants, and refugees. Since the campaign's launch, a range of foundations, large and small, have submitted public statements of support affirming their intent to meet the campaign's goals within the next three years.
Outstanding Web Features:
Visitors to the Philanthropy's Promise site can learn more about the program, view a list of foundations that have made a promise and read about their reasons for doing so, and subscribe to receive e-updates from NCRP. The site also features video testimonials, an FAQ, and recent news and announcements.
