Save Our Food
Mission:
To encourage Virginians to purchase safe, fresh, locally grown foods.
Background:
In 2008, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, an affiliate of the American Farm Bureau Federation, launched the Save Our Food campaign to help save farmland in the state, which has declined by an average of more than 100,000 acres a year since 2002. The organization provides a wide range of programs and events designed to educate consumers about the foods they eat and why it's important to support local farmers.

The Save Our Food site includes informationon the need for farmland in the state, including facts on agriculture and farming; a Fresh Food Locator; recipescontributed by local residents; "In the Garden" videos; an online store; and a list of upcoming events. Visitors to the site also can keep up with recent news, learn how to become a member, and connectto the program on Facebookand YouTube.
