Social Impact 100
Mission:
To provide a broad index of top-performing U.S. nonprofit organizations with proof of results and high potential for expansion.
Background:
Launched in November 2012 by Social Impact Exchange, a cross-sector initiative designed to support the growth of high-impact social programs, the Social Impact 100 Indextracks the number of people served across a portfolio of evidence-based high-impact nonprofits working to address some of the most pressing issues in the areas of education, health, poverty, and youth. The organizations are screened for evidence of impact and the ability to extend their reach and serve more people. With funding and additional support from the Robert Wood Johnson, William and Flora Hewlett, and otherfoundations, the S&I 100's platform enables donors to give directly to a hundred nonprofits, and nearly sixteen thousand local affiliates; the number of organizations in the index will increase as additional nonprofits that meet the criteria are identified.
Outstanding Web Features:
Visitors to the site can search for high-performing nonprofits by issue area —education, health, poverty, and youth, each of which can be filtered further by sub-category — and/or state. Each organization's profile page includes the number of people served, mission and goals, program description, summary of impact, growth plan, site locations, financials, and major funders, as well as annual reports, evaluations, and other documents, including third party-verified studies used as evidence of the nonprofit's effectiveness and potential for growth. Users also can learn about the details of the S&I 100's selection processand eligibility criteria and materials required for consideration. Funders and supporters can nominatea program that satisfies the criteria.
