Teaching & Learning Commons

Teaching & Learning Commons

Mission:
To enrich and encourage the exchange of knowledge about teaching and learning.

Background:
Developed by the Knowledge Media Laboratory of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, the Teaching & Learning Commons is an online community space where teachers, learners, and educational institutions share knowledge.

Outstanding Web Features:
With the KEEP (Knowledge, Exchange, Exhibition, and Presentation) Toolkit — also created by Knowledge Media Lab — users save Web pages offered by Carnegie Foundation scholars, project participants and partners, and international users of the KEEP Toolkit to promote best practices in teaching and learning. Users can categorize or group pages with comments and a label, and then share this new collection of ideas, prompting more conversations and synergies. In addition, the Commons Web site shares a universal log-in with all the complementary sites and tools created by Knowledge Media Lab, including the KEEP Toolkit; the Gallery of Teaching & Learning, which contains the work of Carnegie Foundation program participants and partners; and the Community Favorites page.
