The DuSu

The DuSu

Mission:
To be a one-stop shop for young adults working, living, playing, and connecting in the Twin Ports region of Minnesota.

Background:
A project of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, "The DuSu" is an online platform created "by young people, for young people" that was launched after the community foundation created the Attracting and Retaining Young Adults initiative to better understand why Duluth-Superior-area residents between the ages of 18 and 35 were leaving the area. After reviewing independent research and census data, a twelve-member task force put together a series of recommendations, including the creation of the DuSu platform. With financial support from DSACF and the A.H. Zeppa Family Foundation, 3FIVE Designs and an advisory board of young adults from the Twin Ports region developed the site.

Outstanding Web Features:
The DuSu features employment resources, housing opportunities, entertainment options, and networking tools for young adults. Registered users can set up a member profile, which includes a profile image and basic personal information; connect with neighbors, groups, organizations, and local businesses; and post content in forums. The site also features a number of blogs, a calendar of upcoming events, videos, a content glossary, and links to DuSu profiles on Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter.
