UNICEF Haiti365

UNICEF Haiti365

Mission:
To help the U.S. public renew its commitment to Haiti's children and advocate on their behalf.

Background:
This past January, twelve months after a devastating magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF issued a report that looked at the progress of recovery efforts in the impoverished Caribbean country. The report, Children in Haiti: One Year After - The Long Road From Relief to Recovery (30 pages, PDF), outlined UNICEF's immediate response to the disaster in partnership with the World Health Organization and others, including an emergency vaccination campaign that immunized two million children against diseases such as polio, diphtheria, and measles. In conjunction with the report's release, UNICEF launched Haiti 365 as a way of keeping the ongoing needs of children in Haiti fresh in the minds of Americans.

Outstanding Web Features:
Visitors to the site can sign up to support children in Haiti throughout the year; register to receive information about various calls to action; and read about the struggles of individual Haitian children since the earthquake and respond with a video. In addition, the site features a UNICEF status report, information about the challenges confronting ordinary Haitians, on-the-ground photos taken a year after the earthquake, and videos posted to UNICEF's YouTube channel.
