Mission:
To monitor and advocate against changes to voting laws that implement strict photo ID requirements, which introduce financial barriers to voting; eliminate early and Sunday voting, which makes it more difficult for working people to get to the polls in time; and ban ex-prisoners from voting — all of which disproportionately affect the African-American community and other historically disenfranchised groups.

Background:
Vote.ColorofChange.orgis a project of ColorofChange.org, launched in August 2012 to ensure that the African-American community's voice is heard in the voting booth in the 2012 elections. With more than eight hundred thousand members, ColorOfChange.org is the nation's largest African-American online civil rights organization. The 501(c) (4) organization works to empower African Americans and their allies to make government more responsive to their concerns and bring about positive political and social change for all.

Visitors to the site can register to vote; check if they need to register or re-register to vote; and learn about the registration deadlines and procedures, ID requirements, and early voting opportunities in each state, which will be updated throughout the 2012 election season as pending voting laws are finalized. The site also hosts the "Watch the Race 2012"blog, which tracks "the use of race in the race" and voter suppression. In addition, users can help reportevidence of race-baiting or efforts to confuse voters in their local elections by uploading photos, links, or comments about campaign commercials or videos, calls or robocalls, mailings, posters, or events, as well as statements or remarks by a candidate or campaign official. Visitors to the site also can "pledge to vote,"sign up to volunteer or to receive e-mail updates, or supportColorOfChange.org's voter registration campaign.
