American Diabetes Association receives $10 million from CVS Health
The American Diabetes Association has announced a three-year, $10 million pledge from CVS Health to help prevent and manage diabetes and investigate the health disparities that fuel the diabetes epidemic.
The commitment will support ADA's Project Power program, which aims to reduce barriers that limit access to vital resources while empowering participants to effectively prevent and manage diabetes with increased awareness, knowledge, and action. In addition, the funding will bolster efforts to better understand and address unmet needs in underserved communities and help eliminate these disparities.
"Health inequity is real — it directly fuels childhood obesity and contributes to higher risk and worse outcomes for people with diabetes, a reality that has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic," said ADA chief development officer Charles Henderson. "By funding much-needed research to help tear down systemic barriers and providing critical resources, we can empower people of color who live with diabetes to take control of their health and live better, fuller lives."
