Ball State University receives $7.5 million for arts center
Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, has announced two gifts totaling $7.5 million from June Scheumann as well as Marianne Glick and her husband, Mike Woods, in support of the development and construction of the university’s performing arts center.
The funding includes $2.5 million from Scheumann and $5 million from Glick and Woods for the center, which is expected to draw more than 35,000 attendees to over 160 performances annually. In recognition of the gifts, the lobby will be named after Glick and Woods, and the studio theater will be named after Scheumann.
Glick, who served on the university’s board of trustees from 2006 to 2016, has previously supported scholarships and the Discovery Women’s Philanthropic Leadership Fund. Scheumann is the widow of alumnus John Scheumann (’71), and her previous gifts include $4 million for the renovation of John B. and June M. Scheumann Stadium in 2005 and $7 million in support of the Scheumann Family Indoor Practice Facility at Ball State in 2019.
“I am grateful to Marianne Glick and Mike Woods and to June Scheumann for their continued support of our university,” said Ball State president Geoffrey S. Mearns. “Their contributions help financially support the tangible aspects of our institutional projects, but their investments also broadly support the ongoing work by everyone at Ball State to fulfill our university’s strategic plan.”
