Bezos awards nearly $100 million in Amazon shares

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has awarded $99.2 million of the company’s shares to unnamed nonprofit organizations, Forbes reports.

The information is based on Securities and Exchange Commission filings released earlier this week. According to Forbes, Bezos has given an estimated $2.1 billion in philanthropic contributions over his lifetime (not including this latest gift), which is less than 1 percent of his estimated $181 billion fortune.

Forbes reports that as of the market close on Monday, Bezos is the third richest person in the world, after Tesla CEO Elon Musk and luxury goods tycoon Bernard Arnault.
