The Birthright Israel Foundation has announced a $25 million legacy gift from co-founder Charles Bronfman in support of an initiative aimed at growing the foundation’s endowment.

The legacy commitment through Bronfman’s estate enables the foundation to establish the Birthright Israel Fund for the Jewish Future, which has raised $80 million to date. This year marks the foundation’s 25th anniversary.

“Charles’ $25 million legacy gift will help ensure that countless Jewish young adults, including many second-generation participants, continue to benefit from this transformative Israel experience,” said Birthright Israel president and CEO Elias Saratovsky.
