Broad Art Museum at MSU Receives $1 Million From Federal Credit Union

The Michigan State University Federal Credit Union has announced a $1 million gift in support of educational programming at the university's Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum.

The gift will enable the museum to establish and endow the MSU Federal Credit Union Artist Studio Series, which will invite at least three visiting artists a year to engage in art making, presentations, and other community educational opportunities. Among other things, participating artists will visit schools in the greater Lansing area to help support local arts programs and will instruct MSU students as well as faculty.

During its first year, the new residency program will host Alyson Shotz, whose work "Geometry of Light" is included in the museum's exhibition Pattern: Follow the Rules, which is on display through June 23. Shotz will deliver a lecture on her work on April 24 at the museum.

"Supporting programs with MSU that also give back to our local community is one way MSUFCU fulfills our mission statement by helping those impacted by the program to achieve their dreams," said MSUFCU president and CEO Patrick McPharlin. "We are happy to announce the MSU Federal Credit Union Artist Studio Endowment at the Broad MSU and to support programs that help ensure mid-Michigan is a place full of vibrant arts and culture where people are proud to live, work, and visit."
