Cal State Northridge Receives $10 Million Gift From Alumnus

California State University, Northridge has announced a $10 million gift from alumnus David Nazarian in support of programs in its College of Business and Economics.

The lead gift in a $25 million fundraising campaign will be used to support entrepreneurship, student mentoring, real estate, and professional development programs at the business school, which will be renamed the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics. The gift also will fund efforts to increase the success of women in business, provide additional student travel opportunities, and boost the reputation of CSUN and the school.

The Iranian-born Nazarian, who is president and founder of Nazarian Enterprises and its investment unit, Nimes Capital, earned a business degree from the university in 1982. "My success has been largely due to the opportunities that have been afforded to me in this country," Nazarian said. "Throughout my career I have realized that there is nothing more important and impactful than access to public education. I want to invest in my own community."
