Carnegie Corporation awards $35 million in grants
The Carnegie Corporation of New York has announced forty-four grants totaling more than $35 million.
Grants awarded through the foundation’s International Program include $1 million over thirty-three months to the College of William and Mary in support of a policy-relevant research project at the Global Research Institute; $450,000 over two years to the Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship; $575,000 over two years to ReThink Media in support of efforts to improve the communications capacity of the arms control and disarmament sector; and $400,000 over two years to the University of Gothenburg in Sweden for governance and local development in the Middle East and North Africa.
Grants awarded through the National program include $450,000 over eighteen months to Bank Street College of Education for the Education Center’s district-focused racial equity project; $1.3 million over three years to the Center for American Progress in support of its immigration program; $1 million over fifteen months to the Learning Policy Institute for its EdPrepLab and policy efforts to build a well-prepared, stable, and diverse K-12 educator workforce; and $2 million over two years to the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund in support of its Voting Rights Litigation Working Group.
The foundation also awarded four grants through its Special Opportunities Fund, including $450,000 over three years to New Venture Fund in support of the Census Equity Initiative.
