Casey Foundation launches youth programs in three cities
The Annie E. Casey Foundation has announced the launch of multiyear partnerships in Atlanta, Baltimore, and Albuquerque, to help youth develop job skills and enter the workforce, while supporting their basic needs and relationships with family and mentors.
As part of the foundation’s Thrive by 25 commitment to investing in the well-being and success of young people ages 14 through 24, the partnerships will augment local efforts to advance opportunities for young people through grants and access to expertise provided to lead partners in each community including Future Focused Education (Albuquerque), United Way of Greater Atlanta, and Baltimore’s Promise. The amount of the grants was not disclosed.
The foundation has long invested in Baltimore and Atlanta, identifying them as Casey civic sites, and working in those communities to integrate promising programs and approaches for serving children and their families. New Mexico has also hosted a variety of foundation initiatives focused on children and youth.
“The foundation’s investments and technical assistance will expand capacity for these locally driven efforts to build opportunities for large groups of youth and young adults across these communities and regions,” said Tomi Hiers, vice president at Casey’s Center for Civic Sites and Community Change.
