Central Florida groups receive $40 million from Alan H. Ginsburg

Alan H. Ginsburg and the Ginsburg Family Foundation in Winter Park, Florida, have awarded gifts totaling $40 million in support of organizations in central Florida.

The largest gift, $25 million, was awarded to Nemours Children’s Health to establish the Ginsburg Institute, which will work to advance health equity for children in medically underserved communities by incubating innovative programs, engaging in national policy discussions, and providing intellectual and practical leadership through clinical care, research, education, and quality improvement initiatives. Another $10 million will support construction of the Holocaust Museum for Hope & Humanity in Orlando.

In addition, the University of Central Florida (UCF) will receive $5 million to establish a center focused on fostering inclusion, building cross-cultural and global competencies, and serving the Orlando community. Additional initiatives and focus areas include a renewed focus on civil discourse and civic engagement; creating inclusive teaching, learning, and work environments; and developing strong partnerships with community and industry partners. UCF will augment the gift with an investment of $2.5 million from the UCF Challenge, which provides matching funds for key university initiatives.

“Our family loves our city, and we are proud to support these organizations which not only celebrate our diversity, but also improve the quality of life for our community,” said Ginsburg, who chairs the Ginsburg Family Foundation. “Our hope is these grants inspire our growing community to continue to prioritize equity and inclusion, but also inspire others to give in any way they can to support these important initiatives.”
