Chan Zuckerberg Initiative awards $6 million in community grants
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has announced grants totaling $6 million to 63 nonprofit organizations working to advance a more socially, economically, and racially equitable society in San Mateo County.
Awarded through the annual CZI Community Fund, the grants will support organizations working in the areas of housing, health care, education, job and career skills, and other social supports. In addition to awarding two-year grants of up to $200,000, the fund provides capacity-building support for leadership and organizational development to ensure that local groups have the resources and tools they need to further their missions and work.
Recipients include Abode Services, the East Palo Alto Center for Community Media, the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, the Mental Health Association of San Mateo County, RISE — Reaching and Inspiring Success through Education, and the Tahirih Justice Center. Since its launch in 2017, the CZI Community Fund has awarded grants totaling $26 million to more than 170 local nonprofits.
