Chapman University receives $15 million gift from board chair
Chapman University in Orange, California, has announced a $15 million gift from board of trustees chair Parker S. Kennedy.
The gift will support the university’s Fowler School of Law, with $10 million designated for recruitment and student scholarships and $1 million to elevate the Parker S. Kennedy Professor of Law to the Parker S. Kennedy Endowed Chair in Law. Paul D. Paton, dean of the law school, will serve as the inaugural chair.
The remaining fund allocations have yet to be announced. The gift boosts the total raised for the university’s $500 million Inspire campaign to more than $347 million.
“This endowed scholarship fund will help us recruit the best and brightest students,” Chapman University chief advancement officer Matt Parlow. “Fowler School of Law has been experiencing such great momentum and is on a terrific trajectory, and Dean Paton is the right leader to take us to new heights in the future.”
