Cherng family commits $25 million to Huntington Hospital

Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, California, has announced a $25 million gift from the Panda Charitable Family Foundation in support of enhancements to the hospital’s surgical care program.

Established by Panda Express restaurant chain co-founders Andrew and Peggy Cherng, the foundation has previously supported the hospital’s newborn infant and trauma patient services. During the COVID-19 pandemic the Cherngs coordinated donations of personal protective equipment through the Panda Cares Foundation to assist Huntington’s frontline workers. The hospital’s west tower has been renamed in honor of the Cherng family.

“For many years [the Cherng family has] greatly supported our community personally, as well as through the work they do through the Panda Cares Foundation,” said Huntington Health senior vice president of philanthropy and public relations Jane Haderlein. “We are proud to display their family name on our campus as a symbol of their commitment to our local community and the lifesaving care they are supporting through their generosity.”
