Children's Hospital of Saskatchewan Receives $37 Million Gift

The Children's Hospital of Saskatchewan Foundation has announced a C$50 million ($37 million) gift from Canadian businessman and philanthropist Jim Pattison.

The largest single gift in the history of the Canadian province includes funding for pediatric and maternal-newborn equipment, fellowships, pediatric endowment research, in-kind advertising, and an endowment for the new provincial hospital, which is scheduled to open in 2019. In recognition of the gift, the hospital will be named the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital. In addition, the Children's Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan has been renamed the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation.

"Jim Pattison's remarkable gift will transform the future of maternal and pediatric health care on a scale this province has not seen before,” said foundation president and CEO Brynn Boback-Lane. "We are tremendously grateful for this visionary gift, which will help us achieve long-term, stable funding [and] create a world-class medical and research center of excellence for Saskatchewan children, moms, and families right here at home."
