Cincinnati-Area Arts Organizations Receive $10.4 Million

ArtsWave, the nation's largest community campaign for the arts, has announced grants totaling $10.4 million to nonprofit arts organizations in the greater Cincinnati region.

Made possible by gifts from individuals and organizations, the awards include a grant of $25,000 to the Kennedy Heights Arts Center in support of hands-on, artist-led communal experiences customized to enhance celebrations such as weddings, anniversaries, and bar/bat mitzvahs; $15,000 to MamLuft & Co. and the Clifton Cultural Arts Center for a dance video and a mobile structure that event attendees can explore; $10,000 to the Cincinnati Ballet toward production of a work for its 2016 season; and $10,000 to Elementz in support of an authentic "street dance" competition in front of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. The awards also include a total of $435,000 in support of sixty small projects and local partnerships.

In addition, a number of restricted gifts will underwrite special initiatives in arts innovation, arts education, and arts and health, while other contributions will support the provision of services to local arts organizations, including collaborative marketing, board training, and employee engagement programs.

"We are very fortunate to have the strong support of the business community through more than two hundred and sixty workplace giving campaigns," said ArtsWave chair Lisa Sauer. "The ArtsWave community campaign provides a special opportunity for employee engagement around issues that businesses know are important to their employees like thriving neighborhoods and connected communities. Our regional arts organizations have become more adept at measuring and sharing their impact. ArtsWave is building on this momentum as we look for opportunities to align the collective impact of the arts with broader community priorities and reach more people across the region."
