Clark College receives $1 million from Cowlitz Indian Tribe

Clark College in Vancouver, Washington, has received a $1 million gift from the Cowlitz Indian Tribe in support of long-term projects and grant programs for students, the Columbian reports.

Announced during president Karin Edwards’ annual State of the College address, the gift will support emergency grants and sponsorship programs for students at the community college who experience unexpected life challenges. In addition, the gift will enable the school to launch the Clark College Innovation Fund, which will focus on student-faculty research.

“This historic gift will empower us to drive innovation, address pressing needs, and create a campus environment that aligns with our commitment to equity,” said Edwards. “The Cowlitz Indian Tribe’s contribution will have a lasting impact on our students, faculty, and the community at large.”
