Cleveland Foundation awards $40 million in second-quarter grants

The Cleveland Foundation has announced second-quarter grants totaling $40.4 million in support of organizations serving residents of Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga counties.

The grants will provide support in the areas of arts and culture; education; the environment; leadership; neighborhood revitalization and engagement; and youth, health, and human services. Recipients include Cleveland Public Theatre, which was awarded $200,000 in support of a full season of plays designed to raise consciousness and nurture compassion; College Now Greater Cleveland, which will receive $250,000 in support of a cohort-based initiative at Cuyahoga Community College to provide targeted success coaching and guidance for navigating the various aspects of college life; United States Energy Foundation, which was awarded $1 million to help scale the Power a Clean Future Ohio and Ohio Climate Justice Fund initiatives launched last year; and the Cleveland Restoration Society, which will receive $165,000 in support of the preservation and maintenance of architecturally significant houses in a historic district.

Additional recipients include the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, which was awarded $200,000 in support of outreach and community engagement efforts; B. Riley Sober House, which received $45,675 in support of a month-long career readiness program for LGBTQ+ individuals; and Welcome House, which was awarded $195,000 to investigate if an Employer Resource Network driven by success coaches can work with staff on a personalized basis to reduce staff turnover.
