Clinton Foundation launches action network on inclusive recovery

The Clinton Foundation has announced the launch of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Action Network on an Inclusive Economic Recovery.

Announced at the third convening of Building an Inclusive Recovery, a virtual event focused on addressing racial and economic disparities during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, the network will support recovery efforts in the United States with the same Commitment to Action model used by previous CGI action networks. The first commitments announced by the network include an additional $3 million investment by the Rockefeller Foundation in the Rockefeller Opportunity Collective, which works to narrow the racial wealth gap in the U.S. by strengthening small business in BIPOC communities; and United Way of New York City's $50 million Campaign for Equity, which works to reduce systemic racial disparities through partnerships that drive resources, build capacity, and promote advocacy in Black and other communities of color.

The launch of the network follows the announcement of several commitments at the first Building an Inclusive Recovery convening in October. They include pledges by Inclusiv, in partnership with the University of New Hampshire's Carsey School of Public Policy Center for Impact Finance, and Pacific Community Ventures, in partnership with Appalachian Community CapitalHOPE Credit Union, theLocal Initiatives Support Corporation, and others.

"It's especially important that we work to address the inequalities facing Black, Latino,  Native Americans, and other historically underserved groups [that] have borne the brunt of both the health and economic consequences of COVID-19," said former President Bill Clinton. "This action network will build on our nimble commitment model that has proved to be very effective in driving progress and responding to changing circumstances in real time, including after the 2008 financial crisis when we launched CGI America."
