Collaborative for Gender + Reproductive Equity receives $25 million
The Collaborative for Gender + Reproductive Equity (CGRE) has announced a $25 million unrestricted gift from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.
The gift will amplify CGRE’s support for on-the-ground movement partners working to advance equity and counter attacks on reproductive care. The collaborative’s strategies are guided by its commitment to supporting those centering the needs of directly impacted communities.
“This generous gift could not come at a more critical time, when abortion access is under severe threat and the multiple stressors on women in the workplace have been laid bare by COVID-19,” said CGRE executive director Margaret Hempel. “In addition to our ongoing investments in our partners to build grassroots power at the state level, bring equity to our courts system, and respond quickly to new challenges and opportunities, this funding will allow us to better meet the needs of the organizations and leaders who are best positioned to advance a gender, reproductive, and racial equity agenda nationwide.”
