Alabama

The Black Belt Community Foundation in Selma has launched a COVID-19 Response Fund and is conducting daily assessments of the disease's impact in the region to identify partner organizations in need of assistance as the virus spreads.

California

The Silicon Valley Community Foundation has announced the establishment of three funds to help residents and organizations in the Bay Area meet challenges related to COVID-19. Administered by SVCF in partnership with other community foundations in the region, the COVID-19 Coronavirus Regional Response Fund will provide assistance to low-income individuals and families in the ten-county region; the Regional Nonprofit Emergency Fund will provide operating support grants to nonprofit organizations serving one or more of the ten counties; and the Small Business Relief Fund, which is hosted by SVCF in partnership with the Opportunity Fund, will provide support to self-employed and small business owners.

Colorado

The Denver Foundation has announced COVID-19 grants totaling $480,000. Grants awarded through the foundation's Critical Needs Fund will support nonprofit organizations engaged in COVID-19 relief efforts, with a focus on individuals and groups that may not be in line for federal assistance.

Georgia

Launched last week by the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and the United Way of Greater Atlanta, the Greater Atlanta COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund has announced an initial round of grants totaling $1.5 million in support of emergency responses to the COVID-19 outbreak. Grant recipients include the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Open Hand Atlanta, and YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta.

Kansas

The Central Kansas Community Foundation in Newton has announced a contribution of $50,000 in support of COVID-19 relief efforts in Harvey County. The foundation also announced the creation of the Central Kansas Community Relief Fund as a resource for charities in the county working to meet increased demand for their services.

Maryland

The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore in Salisbury has announced the creation of a COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund in support of local nonprofits impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. The fund, which the foundation seeded with $35,000, has received a donation of $15,000 from Delmarva Power, and the foundation anticipates other community partners coming in to fully match the initial $50,000 in funding.

Michigan

The Community Foundation of Greater Flint, in partnership with United Way of Genesee County, has announced the creation of a relief fund to help support local nonprofits impacted by COVID-19. To that end, the fund will support immediate and anticipated direct service needs/gaps at local nonprofits, the expansion of nonprofit operations and infrastructure to meet growing demand, and costs associated with increasing volunteer capacity. The foundation reports that $625,000 had been raised for the fund as of Friday, March 27.

Nevada

The Community Foundation of Western Nevada in Reno has announced the creation of a COVID-19 Relief Fund in support of individuals, businesses, and nonprofits in northern Nevada impacted by the spread of the coronavirus.

New Jersey

The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation in Englewood has launched a COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund and is working with local nonprofits serving vulnerable populations impacted by COVID-19. Donations to the fund will be used to support small frontline service organizations in Bergen County.

New York

The Brooklyn Community Foundation has announced a first round of grants to address local impacts of the outbreak. In the borough, which is reporting the largest number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country, grantees are responding by experimenting with new methods of getting food to low-income residents, advocating for the rights of individuals in detention, and providing support to newly unemployed low-wage workers and delivery and warehouse workers facing increased risks on the job. Grant recipients include the Campaign Against Hunger, Equality for Flatbush, the Haitian-American Community Coalition, and VOCAL-NY.

Pennsylvania

The Luzerne Foundation in Wilkes-Barre has announced the launch of a COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund that will provide general operating support grants to local nonprofits and community-based organizations impacted by the coronavirus outbreak. The foundation's offices have been closed since March 19 and the foundation itself is functioning under an emergency operations plan established after severe flooding hit the region in 2011.

Vermont

The Vermont Community Foundation has announced nearly $500,000 in grants and mission-related investments in support of communities impacted by the spread of COVID-19 in the state. The first $380,000 in grants from the VT COVID-19 Response Fund will focus on expanding the capacity of nonprofits that provide basic needs to vulnerable populations, with a focus on the elderly and individuals who rely on the social safety net for basic necessities. The foundation also announced that it is partnering with the Vermont State Employees Credit Union to expand the credit union's emergency loan program to all Vermonters who have or will experience a disruption to their income as a result of the pandemic and who don't have the financial capacity to care for themselves or the people who depend on them. The foundation's $110,000 mission-related investment will help individuals who have lost income or wages due to illness, who need to care for a family member, or who have been laid off as the result of a workplace closure. Funds available through the partnership are available on a first-come first-served basis.

Wisconsin

The National Football League's Green Bay Packers have announced the establishment of COVID-19 Community Relief Funds through Packers Give Back in support of local efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic. Packers Give Back established a $1 million relief fund at the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation and has also directed $500,000 in support of initiatives in the Milwaukee area. The grants are in addition to a recent $30,000 donation from Packers Give Back to benefit the Brown County United Way's Emergency Response Fund for individuals impacted by COVID-19. In addition, Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy and his wife, Laurie, have donated $240,000 to COVID-19 relief efforts in Green Bay and Door County.
