Alaska

The Petersburg Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Alaska Community Foundation, has awarded grants totaling $10,000 to six organizations working to assist Alaskans impacted by the economic fallout from the coronavirus, KFSK reports. Grant recipients include the Salvation Army, Mountain View Manor Food Services, the Petersburg Indian Association, and Petersburg Children's Center.

California

The University of California, Santa Cruz has announced a dance lecturer and two alumni from the university's Arts Division as the winners of Rydell Visual Arts Fellowships for 2020 and 2021 from the Community Foundation Santa Cruz County. The awardees for 2020 are alumni Ann Altstatt (2018) and Edward Ramirez (2015). For 2021, the winners are theater arts lecturer Cid Pearlman and Marc D'Estout, who served for a decade as director of art and design at UCSC Extension. Selected from a pool of fifty-nine visual artists, the winners will each receive $20,000 to further their artistic careers.

Colorado

The Community Foundation Boulder County has announced two grants totaling nearly $7,000 in support of organizations serving local veterans impacted by the coronavirus. Awarded through the foundation's Veteran's Fund, general operating support grants were awarded to Homeless Outreach Providing Encouragement (HOPE) and Qualified Listeners.

Hawai'i

First Hawaiian Bank and the Hawaii Community Foundation have awarded $1 million each to the Stronger Together Hawaii Scholarship Fund in support of career-readiness efforts focused on public high school graduates in the state, the Hawaii Tribune reports. The funding will seed efforts to assist this year's graduating seniors, whose school year was cut short by COVID-19. Scholarships will be awarded on a case-by-case basis and can be applied to traditional education-related expenses such as tuition and books as well as emergency expenses that threaten to derail a student's educational progress.

Iowa

The Pottawattamie County Community Foundation has announced that a record $811,021 was raised for local nonprofits during its recent Pottawattamie Gives! 24-hour virtual campaign. In its sixth year, Pottawattamie Gives! surpassed the amount raised ($591,862) in 2019 by more than $200,000 and resulted in significant increases for organizations such as Centro Latino of Council Bluffs, Children's Square U.S.A., the Iowa School for the Deaf Foundation, and the Midlands Humane Society.

Massachusetts

The Boston Foundation has announced a new round of grants totaling $455,000 from its COVID-19 Response Fund. The latest awards boost the foundation's COVID-related grantmaking to $5 million in support of nearly two hundred organizations. Over the past three months, grants awarded through the fund have gone to organizations serving populations most directly impacted by the public health emergency, with more than 60 percent of grantees led by people of color and two-thirds with annual budgets of less than $5 million.

Minnesota

The Minneapolis Foundation has announced an additional $453,000 in OneMPLS grants to forty-one nonprofit organizations providing critical services during the COVID-19 public health emergency. The fourth and final round of grants awarded through phase one of the initiative will support regional efforts to address the economic impact of COVID-19 and provide flexible resources to local organizations serving communities disproportionately affected by the virus. Over the past two months, the foundation has awarded nearly $2 million in OneMPLS grants to a hundred and forty-seven organizations.

New Hampshire

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has announced that it is one of three partners selected to administer a $60 million fund for nonprofits working to assist New Hampshire communities impacted by the coronavirus. In partnership with the New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits and the Community Development Finance Authority, the foundation will work to ensure that the state's Coronavirus Relief Fund — which was established with funds provided through the CARES Act — is disbursed efficiently and effectively by year's end. To date, the foundation has awarded more than $6.8 million from its Community Crisis Action Fund to New Hampshire nonprofits in response to the pandemic, while donors have contributed nearly $3.7 million.

New Mexico

The Los Alamos Community Foundation has announced Emergency Response grants totaling $29,300 in support of twenty local nonprofits impacted by the pandemic. The first round of grants from the foundation’s emergency response fund includes support for Coro de Camara, the Española Valley Fiber Arts Center, Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service, and the Rio Arriba Adult Literacy Program.

Texas

The North Texas Community Foundation in Fort Worth has announced grants totaling $192,500 in support of organizations working to assist those impacted by COVID-19. The first grants awarded through the Better Together Fund include support for the Community Enrichment Center, Family Pathfinders, Traffick911, and the Cornerstone Assistance Network.

Virgin Islands

Through a collaborative grant program funded by the American Red Cross, the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands has announced more than $1 million in grants in support of USVI farmers and social services clients across the islands. Originally designed to help farmers recover from hurricanes Irma and Maria, the microgrant program provides funds to farmers with specific unmet needs, including the loss of or damage to outbuildings, water tanks, and other farm structures.
