Arizona

The Arizona Community Foundation has announced the appointment of Jennifer Perry as regional director of the ACF of Sedona. Perry most recently served as director of development for the Verde Valley Sanctuary and previously served as the director of development and a marketing and capital campaign consultant for the Sedona Public Library.

California

The Kern Community Foundation in Bakersfield has received a $2.5 million matching gift from former Kern County residents Judi and Rob McCarthy, The Record reports. Announced during a twentieth anniversary celebration for the foundation, which Judi McCarthy formerly served as board chair, the gift has been placed in the Robert and Judith McCarthy Family Fund and will support efforts focused on women and girls, K-12 education and youth, and Kern County as a whole. The gift also includes $400,000 set aside for a two-to-one match for the Women's and Girls' Fund.

Connecticut

The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven has announced that its Community Fund for Women and Girls is partnering with the Connecticut Women's Education and Legal Fund (CWEALF) on a bilingual community advocacy project that will provide underserved Latina populations with legal information, referrals to partner agencies, legal assistance, and education about paid family leave. CWEALF led the Connecticut Campaign for Paid Family Leave, and earlier this month the state legislature approved legislation guaranteeing twelve weeks of paid family leave. Beginning in 2021, workers in the state will be asked to contribute a small amount of their weekly earnings to a fund administered by the state for paid family and medical leave, and by 2022 eligible workers will be able to take up to a dozen weeks of paid leave to care for themselves, a loved one, or a new child.

Indiana

The Central Indiana Community Foundation has announced that it will match all donations, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000 raised from the community through the Keep Ann Dancing campaign. The opportunity, which opens Saturday, June 22, and will run through June 29, is designed to double the impact of each gift made in support of the campaign as well as other free and accessible art on the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. Ann Dancing, an electronic work by Julian Opie, is the oldest piece of art on the trail and was installed on what originally was supposed to be a temporary basis in January 2008. While the piece still graces the trail, its electronics need to be replaced. The four-week fundraising goal of $262,800 includes funds to refurbish the piece, establish a maintenance fund for the installation, and make improvements to the Ann Dancing plaza on the trail.

Kansas

The Coffeyville Area Community Foundation has announced scholarships totaling more than $20,000 to twelve students, with awards ranging from $150 to $5,000.

Massachusetts

The Cape Cod Foundation has announced a $10,000 grant to EforAll Cape Cod and Cape Cod Young Professionals (CCYP) in support of ongoing efforts to strengthen the local economy and workforce through entrepreneurship. EforAll, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit, introduced its innovative small business/nonprofit accelerator program to the Cape in 2018.

Michigan

A Mary Theresa Mills Endowment Fund has been established at the Jackson Community Foundation in memory of Mary Mills, mLive.com reports. Mills, who died unexpectedly in April, was married to Rick Mills, a trustee of the foundation, and before her death they had discussed creating a fund at the community foundation. The fund created in her honor will support efforts at St. John Elementary School, which the Millses' three children attend, and Lumen Christi Catholic School, from which both Mary and Rick graduated in 1997.

The Kalamazoo Community Foundation has announced fifty-seven grants totaling $2.3 million in support of programs aligned with the foundation's priorities in the areas of equity and education. Grant recipients include the Can-Do Kitchen, Community Healing Centers, the Intrepid Professional Women Network, and Leader Dogs for the Blind.

Oregon

The Oregon Community Foundation has announced the retirements of Kathleen Cornett and Megan Schumaker, effective July 1. Cornett, vice president of grants and programs, has served the foundation for more than three decades and helped introduce a number of initiatives, including the Latino Leadership Program, a statewide initiative to forge strong partnerships, personal connections, and shared values among Latino and non-Latino communities. Schumaker has worked at the foundation for twenty years, most recently as head of its responsive community grants program. Sonia Worcel will step into a new role as chief community impact officer.

Rhode Island

The Rhode Island Foundation has announced the six recipients of a scholarship honoring the state's founding father, Roger Williams. Selected from more than a hundred and sixty applicants, the recipients will be eligible for $320,000 in scholarship aid over four years through the Carter Roger Williams Initiative, which was launched two years ago by philanthropists Letitia Carter and her late husband, John. In addition to the scholarships, the initiative hosts a website — findingrogerwilliams.com — that offers educational resources for students and educators and awards grants of up to $400 in support of school field trips to the Roger Williams National Memorial in Providence.

Texas

The Permian Basin Area Foundation in Midland has announced grants totaling more than $1.9 million to thirty-two organizations. Grant recipients include the Marfa Studio of Arts, CASA of West Texas, Sterling County EMS, and Teen F.L.O.W. Youth Ministry.

Washington

The Orcas Island Community Foundation in Eastsound has announced scholarships and awards totaling more than $126,000 to twenty-nine graduating high school seniors, including the Henigson's Scholarship, which will provide $8,000 annually over four years to two students.
