Colorado
The Community Foundation Boulder County has announced Lynda Ricketson as its new vice president of philanthropic services. Ricketson, who has worked in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors for several years, most recently at the Community First Foundation in Arvada, will succeed Margaret Katz, who served the foundation for eighteen years.
Indiana
The Central Indiana Community Foundation has announced that its Women's Fund has awarded $250,000 in support of Bellfound Farm, a newly established nonprofit organization that offers holistic support to justice-involved women between the ages of 18 and 24. The organization will use the grant to upgrade a marketplace with retail space, a demonstration kitchen, and flexible meeting space. The renovation was made possible by proceeds from "A Moderated Conversation with Former First Lady Michelle Obama," which the Women's Fund hosted in February.
Michigan
In its first funding cycle of the year, the Kalamazoo Community Foundation has announced grants totaling $2.2 million to forty-eight nonprofits. Recipients include Arc Community Advocates, Christian Neighbors, Leader Dogs for the Blind, and Speak It Forward.
New Hampshire
The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation in Concord has announced the 2018 recipients of the Louise Tillotson Teaching Fellowship, which recognizes excellence in teaching in North Country public schools. This year's recipients are Lisa Pike, a fourth-grade teacher at Edward Fenn Elementary School in Gorham; Lisa Morse, a fifth- and sixth-grade teacher at Milan Village School in Milan; Jeannine LaBounty, a teacher leader at White Mountains Regional High School; and Patricia Hood, a health teacher and Youth Leadership Through Adventure advisor at Berlin High School. Each of the fellowship recipients will receive $10,000. The program has awarded $413,500 to North Country educators since it was established in 2006.
Ohio
The Dayton Foundation is accepting applications for the Del Mar Encore Fellows Initiative, which this year will match qualified individuals with one of three Dayton-area nonprofit organizations -- Dayton Metro Library, National Conference for Community and Justice, and St. Mary Development Corporation. Candidates must be a retired or career-transitioning adult age 55 or older with professional, management, or executive-level experience and must commit to working twenty to thirty-two hours a week for a year, for which they will earn a stipend of $25,000.
The Greater Cincinnati Foundation has announced Jaclyn Sablosky as its new marketing director. Prior to joining GCF, Sablosky worked at Luxottica, where she led the implementation of the company's global initiatives and helped launched the Sun Perks Loyalty Program.
Pennsylvania
The Erie Community Foundation has announced grants totaling $1.95 million to organizations whose projects and programs are deemed vital to Erie's transformation. As part of its Transformational Philanthropy 2.0 effort, the foundation is investing in nonprofits working to address the needs of youth, neighborhoods, and the city's downtown area. Recipients include Mother Teresa Academy, Bayfront East Side Taskforce, the Perry Square Alliance, and the Urban Oasis Project.
Virginia
Having developed a new strategic plan over the past two years, the Community Foundation has announced a new brand and sharpened focus, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports. Celebrating its fiftieth anniversary, the foundation has abbreviated its name and added a tagline, “For a Greater Richmond,” as well as a new focus on education, workforce development, and housing.
Wisconsin
The Oshkosh Area Community Foundation has announced a hundred and forty-six scholarships totaling $182,200 to graduating high school students in the area. Coupled with previously announced scholarships, the foundation has awarded $323,370 to three hundred and twenty-five students this year, including scholarships from the Omro Area Scholarship and Education Foundation ($62,170), Neenah Joint School District ($44,000), Ripon Education Foundation ($13,000) and Winneconne Area Community Foundation ($22,000).
