California

In partnership with the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, the Gilroy Foundation has announced the creation of a charitable fund to assist victims of last weekend's Gilroy Garlic Festival shooting. All funds raised will be distributed by the Gilroy Foundation to victims and local nonprofit organizations. SVCF has contributed an initial $10,000 to the fund.

The Orange County Community Foundation in Newport Beach has announced grants totaling $146,000 to thirty arts organizations through the San Clemente History, Arts, and Culture Fund, the Robert J. & Doreen D. Marshall Fund for Dramatic Arts and Classical Music, and the Jane Deming Fund. Grant recipients include the All American Boys Chorus, Chamber Music Unbound, KidWorks, and Shakespeare by the Sea.

Kansas

The Central Kansas Community Foundation in Newton has announced grants totaling $23,000 through its Kids FUNd in support of eleven projects and programs serving area youth. Grant recipients include the Sunlight Children’s Advocacy Rights Foundation, Kansas Children's Service League, Communities in Schools of Mid-America, and CASA: A Voice for Children.

Kentucky

The Community Foundation of Louisville has announced that president and CEO Susan Barry will be stepping down from her position in September. Senior vice president and chief financial officer Matt Bacon has been named interim president and CEO, and a nationwide search for Barry’s successor has been launched.

Massachusetts

The Cape Cod Foundation has announced grants totaling $90,000 in support of capital projects at eleven local nonprofits working to address hunger and homelessness on the Cape and Islands. The foundation had received the funds earlier this year from a private foundation in the state. Grant recipients include the Cape Cod Council of Churches, Champ Homes, the Family Pantry of Cape Cod, and Independence House.

Michigan

The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan has appointed Sarah Earley (president of the Belle Isle Women's Committee), Wendy Batiste-Johnson (former general manager of the Mall at Partridge Creek), and Rick Scofield (chair of the foundation's Livingston County affiliate) to its board of trustees.

Minnesota

The Minneapolis Foundation has announced inaugural grants from its Minneapolis Climate Action and Racial Equity Fund. A partnership between the City of Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Foundation, and the McKnight Foundation, the fund was created to connect corporate and philanthropic giving with place-based community-driven initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the Minneapolis region. Seeded with $100,000 from the McKnight Foundation, the fund was launched this spring and has received more than $22,000 in additional contributions, including gifts from the Xcel Energy Foundation and Askov Finlayson. Inaugural grants were awarded to MN Renewable Now ($25,000), Minnesota Interfaith Power and Light ($17,500), and HOURCAR ($25,000).

New Hampshire

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has announced ten grants totaling nearly $1 million from the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund in support of communities in rural northern areas of the state. Grant recipients include the Conservation Fund, Helping Hands North, Taproot Farm and Environmental Education Center, and White Mountains Community College.

New Jersey

The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation has announced the establishment of a fund in memory of Leonia native Frank DeLorenzo, who passed away in 2017. The Frank DeLorenzo Memorial Fund will provide an annual scholarship to a graduating senior from Leonia who demonstrates talent in the arts.

North Carolina

The North Carolina Community Foundation has announced grants totaling $250,000 in support of inclusive long-term disaster recovery in eastern North Carolina communities affected by Hurricane Florence.

Pennsylvania

The Erie Community Foundation has announced unrestricted grants totaling more than $3.5 million. Grant recipients include All About Character, Safe Harbor Behavioral Health, the Erie Philharmonic, and the Crime Victim Center of Erie County.

South Carolina

The Community Foundation of the Lowcountry has announced the addition of Arno Dimmling, Linda Fiore, and Paul Moeri to its board of directors. The foundation also announced the appointments of Jill Dawson and Julia Moore as program associates, and of Diane Shott as an administrative assistant.
