The report also found that individual giving in the state has recovered from the Great Recession, with giving totals now higher than they were in 2007.
Virginia
The Piedmont Community Foundation in Middleburg has launched an economic development microenterprise grants program, Loudon Business reports. The program, which will make grants to individuals and companies, is tied to the low-to-moderate income employee qualifications for U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development program and will offer grants averaging roughly $10,000 to individuals launching or innovating a business that meets HUD thresholds of need. Priority will be given to microenterprises that create jobs meeting or exceeding a "living wage" of $13.20 per hour; businesses that ensure positions for women, returning veterans, and/or minorities; and businesses that are able to use the grant to leverage additional funding or investment.
