Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center receives $30 million gift
The Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility in Livingston, New Jersey, has announced a $30 million gift from Andrea and Anthony Melchiorre in support of a new cancer center.
The Melchiorre Cancer Center is scheduled to open in 2025 and will be a standalone facility within the Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center campus. Construction of the five-story, 137,000-square-foot building is estimated to cost $225 million. Over the past twelve years, the Melchiorre family have been consistent donors to the hospital, including funding for the Cooperman Family Pavilion, as well as the radiation oncology and emergency departments. The family’s most recent commitment boosts their total giving to nearly $50 million.
“Like countless families, we have been personally touched by cancer,” said the couple. “We know that this new cancer center, which will bring together the region’s top oncologists with best-in-class services in one dedicated setting, will bring renewed hope to people in New Jersey and throughout the region.”
