The Museum of Science & History (MOSH) in Jacksonville, Florida, has announced a $10 million gift from railroad giant CSX in support of the museum’s capital campaign.

The MOSH Genesis campaign supports plans for the museum to relocate to a new building on the north bank of the St. Johns River in downtown Jacksonville, after more than 50 years on the south bank. In recognition of the gift, CSX will be named as the presenting sponsor of the new museum. Recently signed legislation provides the MOSH a 40-year ground lease of the land for $1 per year, design rights of the surrounding park and riverwalk, and other agreements related to the creation of a new museum and surrounding park spaces.

“Investing in the transformation of our downtown through the MOSH Genesis vision aligns with our company’s commitment to our city’s cultural and educational vibrancy,” said CSX president and CEO Joe Hinrichs. “We are proud to lend our name to an institution that promises to inspire the next generation of leaders in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). These fields directly support our business operations while reinforcing northeast Florida’s status as a logistics leader.”
