Dickinson alumnus funds scholarships for five Ukrainian students
Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, has received a $2 million gift from alumnus Sam Rose (’58) to cover the cost of four years of tuition for five Ukrainian students entering the school in the fall.
The scholarships, which are part of an initiative aimed at providing full funding for demonstrated financial need to every student admitted to Dickinson, will cover tuition, textbooks, health insurance, and other costs associated with attending the college. Rose, founder of Greenebaum and Associates real estate firm, will also mentor the incoming students and has committed $17.8 million to the scholarship initiative.
“Education is a great place to make an investment,” said Rose, whose grandmother was born in Kyiv. “These students have endured more than a year of war in their homeland, and I’m happy to give them the opportunity to succeed with a life-changing Dickinson education to become leaders and problem-solvers.”
