Duke Endowment Awards $16 Million to Carolina Nonprofits
The Duke Endowment in Charlotte, North Carolina, has announced thirty-five grants totaling more than $16 million to organizations in the Carolinas.
Awarded through the endowment's Health Care program area, the grants focus on improving the quality and safety of care, improving access to care, and enhancing prevention to improve population health.
The grants include $1 million to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill to establish a program to improve birth outcomes in eastern North Carolina; $502,700 to Spartanburg (SC) Regional Healthcare System to establish a tele-psychiatry program that integrates mental health services into primary care practices in Spartanburg County; and $350,000 to Novant Health Foundation Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, to expand access to dental care for children and adults in Mecklenburg County.
