The Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Family Foundation in Milwaukee has announced grants totaling $7.2 million in the areas of arts and culture, education, environmental health and justice, and initiatives in the Great Lakes region.

Recipients include Cranbrook Institute of Science, which will receive $1.3 million to redesign and update its freshwater resources exhibit to help visitors understand the past, present, and future of the Great Lakes; the Motown Museum, which was awarded $1 million for an expansion of its cultural tourism and education campus to a nearly 50,000 square feet; Friends of the Oudolf Garden Detroit, which will receive ($160,000 for an ADA-compliant boardwalk; the Michigan Environmental Council, which was awarded $250,000 to improve soil on the state’s farmland; and ArtOps, via Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings, which was awarded $90,000 to continue JazzEd Detroit's support of convening, collaborating, and coordinating marketing for five leading jazz education programs in the Detroit area.

“We are excited to support our legacy partner, Cranbrook, and this incredible educational opportunity at the Cranbrook Institute of Science,” said Erb Family Foundation president and chair John Erb. “The updated exhibit will offer students and adults an engaging learning experience about the complex ecosystem of the Great Lakes watershed, while emphasizing environmental stewardship.”
