Fidelity Charitable donor-advised funds award $4.8 billion in grants

Fidelity Charitable has announced that its donor-advised funds awarded nearly a million grants totaling $4.8 billion in the first half of 2022.

The funding represents an 11 percent year-over-year increase in grant dollars from $4.3 billion, following a record-setting $10.3 billion awarded in 2021. Responding to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine was a major driver of grantmaking in the first half of 2022. In total, donors have recommended more than $128 million in grants specifically earmarked to assist Ukraine aid efforts.

“The continued growth in granting we saw during the first half of the year shows the value of donor-advised funds as a sustaining force for the sector even when times get tough,” said Fidelity Charitable president Jacob Pruitt. “Despite rising inflation and market volatility, Fidelity Charitable donors have continued to lead with generosity and are providing record-high support to nonprofits.”
